May 20, 2002: The Joel Whitney family has donated a small bag of shells gathered from the location of the shoot out in The Round-Up starring Fatty Arbuckle and filmed here in 1920. The location, which can only be reached on foot from Tuttle Creek Road, was a favorite haunt for Joel and his brother when they were young. They loved gathering the shell casings. Since we know of only one film, the Round-Up, using the location, we are certain these are from that very early film. Some of the shells will be added to the museum collection for display, but some will be mounted on plaques with a certificate of authenticity and sold to collectors as a donation to the Education Outreach Program of the Museum. Within a few months they will be available at this website. Thanks Joel for your wonderful gift!
